Today I've created new banners for Wikidot. The results can be seen below. I uploaded also other sizes of these pictures.
Michał likes the Web2.0 shiny style, same as me. I like when something is piano black with nice reflections :)
Banners were created using GIMP and Inkscape.

Barcamp
Yesterday the Wikidot Team was on a Barcamp, Poznań, PL — an IT conference about web services.
There was a couple of nice projects/start-ups which have big chances to achieve — bigger or smaller — success. Barcamp taught me few things and I hope that the experience gained on that conference will improve the way I'm thinking globally about web services, especially social networks.
IMHO such meetings are very important on polish web market. They give changes to receive very valuable feedback for young developers, who have an idea and want to make the dream a reality. With — of course — an accompany of investors / consultants. Nevertheless I felt a little bit strange, cause Wikidot definitely is not a start-up project and except the representatives of the biggest polish web portals, we were the one and only team with the success imprinted on our backs — in metaphor and literally (vide our T-shirts :P).
Hardware
Why my computer is soooo slooow? I am thinking about buying:
Toshiba U400-138
- Intel Centrino® Core 2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26 GHz, 3MB L2 Cache)
- 3GB (DDR2-667MHz) — expandable to 8 gigs, I plan to increase it to 4GB at the beginning
- 320GB SATA (50rpm)
- 13.3" WXGA TruBrite (1280x800)
- WLAN (802.11a/b/g), Bluetooth etc.
but it costs a lot and I will have to work a couple of months in Wikidot to afford it. Hmm, maybe I'll get a raise :D, but I think that it will br available only after introducing Pro Accounts. Dunno, it does not depend on me.
Health
My drugs didn't helped. I still cannot get rid of my facial paralysis. I hope that physiotherapy will fix me, but I do not have big hopes about that. Sad.
Reflections for today:
- who the hell is using the edit icons? I didn't use it even once! :) Wiki syntax rulez. But — for bloggin' — who needs wiki syntax?
- why do I have to feel so badly? Drugs sucks. And they do not help to repair my face at all. Damn….
- why does my computer is so slow?

Hacking last.fm
There is a way to download / save radio streams from last.fm using lastfmproxy and streamripper. I wanted yesterday to save some music from last.fm, but not from radios, but from Artist page. Sometimes there are full length music files, which you can listen to, but you cannot download it, as shown below:
What to do, if you want to download these files?
1. First of all, you need Mozilla Firefox (I'm using FF3) with the FireBug addon.
2. Go to the artist page
3. Open FireBug window. Go to the net tab
4. Click PLAY on the song
5. Watch the FireBug Net reports
6. You will see two *.mp3 files, right-click the second (lower) and then Copy Location / Copy Link (depends on Firefox and FireBug version)
7. Paste this link to the new tab and press Enter
8. Download of this will start shortly
Hooray! You can download mp3 files from last.fm!!! :D
Note: Unfortunately, mp3 are named by the hash and there are no ID3 tags, you have to add them manually.
